hi lovely dancers,
We have been working hard to pull together some exciting NEW plans for Body Shift in 2013—based very much on your feedback and input.
Monthly Elements Class!
Our 3rd Saturday of the month class will continue, but the focus will be on reaching the beginner or person who is new to dance. See our elegant description below! All are welcome (even you long time Body Shifters), so please spread the word to people who you think might love Body Shift. Next class is Sat., Jan. 19th from 2-4pm at Moving Arts Studio (previously Galaxy Dance Studio).
Month-long Performance Workshops!
You asked for it and you got it! 3 month-long performance workshops will begin in Feb for people who have been participating in Body Shift and are ready to begin performing. Please see full description below and for now sign up by emailing email@example.com. On-line registration form and facebook event page coming soon!
Much love to you all and hope to see you dancing soon!
Body Shift Elements
In the words of Alito Alessi, “If you can breathe, you can dance.” This monthly class is for any one who is interested in dancing in a playful, inclusive atmosphere. We encourage adults of all ages and abilities to attend. Participants will dance with the group, a partner and explore the basic elements of dance. We’ll explore the space by making shapes with our bodies alone and together moving across the room. We’ll explore time and tempo with simple directions like stop, go, fast, and slow. Come relax, take your shoes off and move to the music. Open to anyone regardless of experience.
Sat., January 19th 2-4pm (taught by Julie Nathanielsz)
Sat., February 16th 2-4pm
Sat., March 15th 2-4pm
Sat., April 20th 2-4pm

All classes held at Moving Arts Studio (formally Galaxy Dance Studio); 1700 South Lamar Boulevard, Suite 338
Class Fee: $5-$20 sliding scale.
No pre-registration required unless you are bringing a large group (more than 5 people). As in all Body Shift classes, people needed attendant help should bring an attendant. The attendant will not be charged for class. With questions please contact Lynn Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Perform with Body Shift
Forklift is launching a new Body Shift initiative–a series of workshops and site-specific performances. Blending elements of choreography and improvisation, each workshop group creates a dance to be performed in a public space. The first three sessions have us working together as a group, exploring ideas and preparing for the performance, which takes place on the fourth day of each workshop. Each series investigates how to be present in our bodies as authentically as possible, as well as how to move and think quickly in performance. Best for people who have taken previous Body Shift workshops or who have some experience with improvisational dance.
